Sweetwater Beach – A Mediterranean Paradise

Sweetwater Beach is a secluded gem tucked between rugged cliffs on the southern coast of the charming Greek island of Crete. You can hike here across the rocky terrain or sit back and enjoy a scenic boat ride along the coastline.

This idyllic spot is a hidden gem that perfectly captures the serene spirit of the Mediterranean. Far from the crowds, you can lose yourself in the peace and quiet, and feel at one with Nature.

I was fortunate to spend a few hours here one sunny September morning while travelling from Sfakia to the picturesque Cretan village of Loutro. I stepped off the pebbly shore into the cool water, swimming between the rocks and along the rugged cliff face. A colorful array of fish joined me, darting alongside as I swam. The warm sun revealed the texture in the rock and intensified the vivid blue of the sea—a dream setting for any photographer.
